Learning Objectives Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
Summarize recent epidemiologic and economic data to underscore the significant impact osteoarthritis has on the population
Describe the issues faced by clinicians who are treating patients with osteoarthritis and hypertension
Summarize the available pharmacologic options for the treatment of osteoarthritis and evaluate the potential benefits and risks
Discuss
the role of nitric oxide on the endothelial system, focusing on the
regulation of blood pressure and its implications in patients with
osteoarthritis
Compare
and assess the effects of Cyclooxygenase-Inhibiting Nitric Oxide
Donating (CINOD) drugs for the treatment of patients with
osteoarthritis and hypertension
Evaluate
the current treatment recommendations for patients with osteoarthritis
and associated cardiovascular risk factors (i.e. hypertension)
